
L. acutesquamosa is considered a synonym of L. aspera by some mycologists on the basis of morphology. I’m sticking with the former name until genetic work on western North American populations indicates otherwise. Fairly uncommon in my region, these were near alder in a predominantly mixed conifer forest.
